#OneSolution - Everyone A Changemaker, 2018

#OneSolution - Everyone A Changemaker, 2018

October 27 2018 - October 28 2018 @ New Delhi , DL

Once in every 3-4 years, Ashoka brings together some of the world’s most exceptional social innovators – Ashoka Fellows – to meet some of the most

visionary business leaders.

Businesses are already facing, or are likely to face, far greater unpredictability as a result of markets that are changing at breakneck speed. This is reflected in people’s behaviour, choices, reacting environment and intrusive technology. These changes will bring new challenges for the next generation. Industry has triggered critical changes in skills and young people in the past, by pushing institutions to change their priorities. For example, the growth in the IT industry in India caused the number of engineering colleges under the All India Council for Technical Education, to grow over 100% from 1,511 to 3,288 between 2007 and 2017. So once again, it is critical to engage businesses in tackling the wider challenges facing young people. It is essential to engage government as well, to ensure that the path paved by businesses results in policy changes that reach a wider group of young people.

Unpredictability brings greater need to be able to lead effectively, create and run fluid teams-of-teams, and creatively solve problems on the go. These are the skills of a Changemaker. These skills have the potential to increase value and wealth while serving people, the planet and all of life around us. And developing a sense of empathy is turning out to be an integral part of employing these skills for personal and professional success.

At Ashoka, we see our role as helping society see that we are in a historic moment and showing people that we have shifted to a world where change is the new norm. To this end, #OneSolution has been developed as a platform for a diverse and influential group of individuals to deliberate the ways in which empathy can be mainstreamed in discourse and practice among the various spheres of influence.
